My desire for the Cardboard chair was to design a simple yet functional piece of furniture with a modern flare. My inspiration for this piece came from my wish to transform something from a weak and easily collapsible material into something strong and durable. I found that by using cardboard and glue alone for this project I was able to achieve stability from weak materials.

The chair was constructed by creating four separate pieces that would be easy to combine. Folding the cardboard into triangles, then gluing and piecing them together to construct all four pieces constructed the chair. The back of the chair, which also extends as the back leg, penetrated the seat of the chair. There are two folded triangles pinned through the back leg horizontally as the main strength carrier. The two front legs are glued onto the seat.
