The Three ā€œCā€ LED pendant

LIGHTING
2006

Material: Aluminum and Plastic
Dimension: 4″ L x 2.25″ W x 1.25″ H

The objective of this design is to create a unique and contemporary pendant light fixture, a luminaire that could not be made with any other lighting technologies, such as fluorescent and incandescent.

In order to demonstrate the LED technology and capture the special effects, a layer lamination was used for the construction of this pendant light. There are total of twelve components to assemble this fixture: an aluminum heat sink, two raisers, two screws, three two-diodes LED chips, a black acrylic, an amber acrylic and two 3/16″ diameter aluminum tubes. Three 1″ diameter holes have been mechanically drilled through both black and ember acrylic. This would allow maximum light emission, capture and highlight the beauty of the amber acrylic. Also, there is a 1/16″ gap between the heat sink and the black acrylic, which is purposely designed to obtain sparkles. This fixture consumes approximately three watts of energy.
